How does it work?

You hire on a project basis, with an all-in price to independently turn your concept into a full carpet. This is not a teaching moment. There is always someone from Tuftlab present, to whom you can turn with questions or technical problems. You have complete freedom in the complexity of your design, without the rules you are used to from our workshop. Whether you want to create a simple pattern for your interior or a complex masterpiece. When in doubt or with questions, share your design for advice. The 70cm and 90cm frames include 2 days, more than enough time to get your project done without having to look at the clock. Most will manage it in a day. Your second day also does not have to be consecutive by agreement. After your first day, we can schedule a follow-up day. There should be a maximum of 14 days in between because we cannot keep projects forever. Still need more time? Then we charge €60 euros per extra day.

Materials.

  • Own workstation with frame of your choice: 70cm, 90cm or 2 meters.
  • Choice of all our tufting machines: cut pile (7mm,15mm,40mm) and loop pile.
  • Tools such as beamer, various scissors, shaver, electric carpet scissors.
  • Materials such as 33 colors of high-quality New Zealand sheep’s wool, tufting cloth, glue, non-slip finish, carpet tape.
  • Unlimited coffee, tea and snacks.

The rules of the game.

  • You have attended our workshop or demonstrated tufting experience.
  • You may bring someone to keep you company.
  • When you’re done, sweep your work area and clean up the tools.
  • You are responsible for your own safety when using tools.

In order to prevent abuse of our generous times, you are not allowed to tuft more if there is time to spare. A project is 1 canvas full. You may, of course, make several small rugs if it fits on your canvas.

Reservations.

Contact tuftlab to reserve a date. During vacation periods, studio times may vary. Free work is always available Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekends differ. You may visit 2 days in a row but also on two different days. After your first day, we can schedule a follow-up day.

We offer a cozy and inspiring environment in a nice informal atmosphere to work on your projects in Amsterdam Noord. Taking a break? Within walking distance you will find fun places like De Goudfazant, Skatecafe, FC Hyena, Hangar and many more. Come by bike, take the subway from Amsterdam Central or park your car for €1.60 per hour.
