Create something truly big — literally. With our 2×2 meter frame, you get the chance to make a gigantic carpet in your own style. For five days, our studio is your playground, including all materials, tools, and freedom to bring your design to life. No lesson, just all the space. And: you can tuft together with up to two friends at the same time.

Perfect for experienced tufters who want to make a statement piece — or just feel like doing a cool creative project without the constraints of a workshop.

How does it work?

You’re booking this XXL workspace for one large project. Everything you need is ready for you: the 200×200 cm frame is already set up, the wool is ready, and our machines and tools are hanging on the wall. From cut pile and loop pile machines to heavy-duty trimmers, you have free rein.

Team Tuftlab is always nearby for questions or technical help, but it’s entirely your project. No lessons, no fixed assignments — you decide how big, how complex, or how colorful you make it.

Finished tufting? We’ll glue your carpet for you. The further finishing, such as trimming, cutting edges, and perfecting the details, you do yourself with our professional equipment. This way, you truly make it yourself from start to finish.

Materials tools

You have access to:

• Own workspace with a 200×200 cm frame
• Tufting machines:
  • Cut pile (7 mm, 15 mm, 40 mm)
  • Loop pile for loops
• Extra tools:
  • Projector
  • Electric scissors
  • Heavy-duty trimmer
• Materials:
  • More than 30 colors of 100% New Zealand sheep wool
  • Tufting cloth, glue anti-slip finishing
  • Carpet tape for neat edges

The rules

• Unlimited coffee, tea snacks
• A 2×2 meter project is physically intensive – tufting experience is required
• Maximum 3 people at a time – working together on one large project
• After finishing, you sweep your workspace clean and tidy up your tools
• You are responsible for the safe use of all tools
• You can also make multiple small carpets, as long as they fit on your canvas

Booking

You book this workspace for 5 consecutive days, from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 17:00. Starting on Wednesday? Then your project runs until Tuesday. Need more time? No problem – extra days can be booked for €80 per day. Want different times? Just contact us, and we’ll see what’s possible.

Inspiring studio in Amsterdam North

Tuftlab is located in the creative heart of Amsterdam North, with plenty of inspiration around you. Within walking distance, you’ll find nice places to take a break, such as De Goudfazant, Skatecafe, FC Hyena, and Hangar. Come by bike, take the metro from Amsterdam Central Station, or park your car for just €1.60 per hour.
